Literal adaption of Stig Dagerman’s debute novel Ormen (The Snake, 1945). The film focuses on the first chapter of the book, Berättelsen om Iréne (The Story of Iréne). It was rather controversial at the time of its release, because of the graphic violence and the sex scenes (it was even screened at some porn venues in the UK).
