“We are Going Home” is a 10 minute experimental film shot in June 97, at a Philip Hoffman’s film retreat in rural Ontario. The film was made in the memory of Marian McMahon, an experimental Canadian filmmaker who died of cancer in the fall of 1996. “We are going Home”, solarized, tinted, and optically printed, is a surreal portrait of desire, ghosts and pursuit.E Rhythmic color shifts in the emulsion brings life to the country landscape, which comes to embody the terrain of the subconscious. A multinational company owned by Mrs. Judit Angst is facing financial difficulties. She decides to hire a group of young anarchists to fake her kidnapping. After a couple of weeks spent in confinement, she will be able to justify the downfall of her company before the people, and at the same time it will also build her status as an opponent of destruction and chaos. A direct inspiration for the film was the kidnapping of Peter Lorenz, a center-right politician from Berlin, in the early 1970s. Lorenz spent two weeks in the captivity of the Bewegung 2. Juni terrorist group, from which he was released after the government met the kidnappers’ demands. The case was subsequently exploited for the benefit of his election bid to become the mayor of Berlin.Read More »

Blue Max (1997) shows a woman looking out of a window, but also working with extreme close-ups: The street, her neck, the window, her knees, the floor and her toes, brought together by the sound of a passing train. Her ears, her mouth, the wall and the door. The sparkling glass of a window and the young woman on top of a naked young man and later the shadows on the wall of both of them. A telephone is ringing and the clouds in the blue sky are travelling by while it all turns into a rape. And the calmness of both of them is quite irritating when they later watch TV together.
