imdb:
The uncle of the young narrator enters his house unexpectedly. In order to offer him some refreshments, he goes to bring a bottle of wine. Through the crevice of the wall which happens to be there, he sees an ethereal girl offering a lotus flower to an old man who bursts into a hair-raising laughter. Surprisingly, this is exactly the picture he keeps drawing on pen cases as a calling. He is then jolted into realities. The thought of the old man gradually begins to loom over his life and sow the seed of anxiety. The narrator embarks on a journey in search of the ethereal girl and the old man. His journey, however, takes him into a study of history and myths. The narrator comes back and realizes that his uncle has left, leaving the door agape like the mouth of a dead man. Desperately he goes out to look for the ethereal girl.Read More » -

As the filmmaker metaphorically represents the “romanticism as love towards mineral,” they are gathered through the act of shooting (the physical movements on camera) and they are a collection of images being put in the film; these meanings are to be interpreted by the audience.Read More » -
Jun Kurosawa – Surface (1989)
1981-1990ExperimentalJapanJun KurosawaShort Film
Sporadic, quick-moving shots of light passing through and bouncing off different materials. We see the reflections and shadows caused by the different things it hits. I would say this was almost too simple, but the child-like soundtrack gives it an air of playfulness. It feels like being six years old and messing around with things that aren’t toys because you’re curious. It’s the very definition of simple but sweet.Read More »

The works recorded here are made by Jun Kurosawa mainly in his years
at university.
The remarks on Jun Kurosawa’s works have been focusing on his
impulse of destruction, which are expressed in degenerative keywords
such as “death” and “thanatos”: whereas aesthetical images are
also often mentioned. Is it because his distinct features help them to
establish such images? The features can be described as “film scratch”
and “harsh noise,” all of which can be found in his masterpieces such
as “NEKO-MIMI (1994)” and “JESUS WITH ONE LEG (1991-1994).”Read More »
