Hans Barkhausen – Die Glocke ruft AKA The Bell Calls (1935)

Die Glocke ruft (1935)

Quote:
Short hype film for the 1936 Olympics. Through dialogue-free montage we first travel around Germany, taking in the sights and getting plenty of Heimat vibes. Tradition and the contemporary go side-by-side: the sights and possibilities of the budding Reichsautobahn are evoked — Fanget an!, to quote the Führer.

A tour of the Olympic venues is next: the alpine Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the waters of Kiel, the action of Berlin, the Olympic village, and various sporting arenas. Athletes of all kind are also on display. It may not be Leni’s Olympia but it’s stylish enough.
