About the movie
– To make this film was very old dream. Shooting was started in 1988, it was before gaining independence. Only being of father Stanislovas was something incredible these days. Unlocked doors from his barn where were stored priceless reliquaries, books. Not locked church with artworks inside. Unconditional trust… It impressed not only me. The first night of a performance of Mozart’s Requiem staged by Alexander Sokurov, with the Rossica choir from St. Petersburg, led by Valentina Kopylova-Pantchenko, took place in the small hall of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic at the end of the winter of 2003. The director was looking to give a new resonance to classical music in both an aesthetic as well as a musical context. On stage, the action takes place in a clear, simple, dynamic and beautiful way, within the space of a magnificent hall. The performance was a surprising revelation even for music-lovers.Read More »

David Redmon & Ashley Sabin – Girl Model (2011)
2011-2020Ashley SabinDavid RedmonDocumentaryUnited KingdomAs unaffected and fat-free as the would-be superstars it profiles, the intrepid “Girl Model” gets inside the virtual human trafficking of beautiful young Russians into the netherworld of the Japanese modeling market, tracking one young blonde Siberian’s experience from breathless hopeful to damaged dreamer. Broadcast on PBS is assured, but the vaguely salacious nature of the story and the tenacity of the directors could help further advance a docu that manages to balance guileless objectivity with a very determined point of view.Read More »
