Quote:
Salome was the daughter of Herod II and Herodias. According to the New Testament, the daughter of Herodias demanded and received the head of John the Baptist. This is a choreographed version of the play by Oscar Wilde.

Rare and gorgeous superproduction by O.R.T.F. (French television) shot in 35mm, as baroque and decadent as Fellini’s SATYRICON. Just imagine a broadcast in the whole country (May 9th, 1969 – one single diffusion in my knowledge). Shot in Barcelona in La Sagrada Familia (Herode’s palace) and Parc Gruel, as well as in la Grotte des Demoiselles and in the rocky chaos in the region of Hérault, in southern France. Everything, from sets to costumes to make-up to atmosphere is an amazing homage to Oscar Wilde’s SALOMÉ, and a camp masterpiece. Most unfortunatly, the file comes from a print that went through the dirtiest projector, screened by the filthiest projectionist: continuous scratches deep to the emulsion mutilate in a way this bizarre wonder. The dance of the fanatic seductress Ludmilla Tcherina is not spared.
Thank you for filling my request! I’ve always been a fan of Koralnik’s “Anna” and wanted to find this one for a while now.
