Synopsis:
Alfred and Lisa – he a car mechanic, she a nurse – live in a tiny old apartment in Berlin’s Prenzlauer Berg district. After two years of marriage, they seem to have nothing more to say to each other. Divorce proceedings have been initiated. Alfred takes a few days off, lives aimlessly into the day and yet is looking for something out of the ordinary. Lisa doesn’t quite understand Alfred’s request for divorce, but doesn’t fight to preserve the marriage. Alfred’s vacation also becomes too monotonous, so he would rather work for free in his auto repair shop than be bored. There, the head of the squad morally reproaches him for his failed marriage. The film leaves open whether Alfred and Lisa find their way back to each other.

Böttcher’s only feature film was withdrawn in its raw version because of a hopeless release and did not see its premiere until 1990.

Synopsis:

‘Li and Al share a cramped little room in an old building, which goes a long way towards explaining why they are thinking of divorce. It is practically impossible for Lisa and Alfred to find another fiat in their district, Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin. Particularly Al feels shut in, cramped and that his personal freedom is curbed. He is an enthusiastic car mechanic and motor-bike freak but cannot pursue his interests and hobbies. He wants to discover new things and tryout his own potential, developing his abilities to the full.
One day he takes time off work. strolls through Berlin, visits friends and gets to know new people – doing things without anything special in mind. He simply lets himself be carried along by his mood. His cadre leader at work takes him to task for this. And Li, who works as an infant nurse, wants to talk out things with AI. For she is suffering because of the looming separation, feels hurt by Al’s behaviour and is hoping that they might still stay together. Maybe she will be proven right…’

Although the Indians were assured their lands adjacent to the Black Hills by contract, the Whites want to expel them. Meanwhile, gold has been discovered there and the unscrupulous settler, Red Fox, demands of Mattotaupa, chief of the Bears Clan belonging to the Dakota tribe, to reveal to him the location of a cave with gold deposits. Mattotaupa refuses and is stabbed to death by Red Fox in the presence of his son Tokei-ihto. Lieutenant Roach orders Tokei-ihto to Fort Smith in order to negotiate. The son of the slain chief suspects that the Whites are planning an ambush, a fear that is confirmed when he encounters Red Fox there. Tokei-ihto refuses to move to a reservation in an infertile area with his tribe and is incarcerated. When the Dakota Indians have been defeated and resettled, he is released. Tokei-ihto learns of the murder of the senior chief Tashunka-witko. Tokei-ihto now wants to fulfill his legacy, escaping with the subgroup of his tribe to the fertile areas beyond the Missouri in Canada. While the members of the Bears Clan cross the border, Tokei-ihto encounters Red Fox, his father’s murderer.

Synopsis
Johannes proposes marriage to Jette in such an uncharming manner that she is scared off. One word follows the other and instead of falling into each others arms each says what they have been thinking for a long time. Jette used to think that Johannes’ spleen for cars including his white-blue, tuned race Trabbi was cute. But now she only sees the egoist who willingly takes bribe at his work as a car mechanic. Jette takes off to her friend and colleague Conny. They both work as hostesses in the television tower in Berlin. Even though they used to share the apartment, Jette’s visit does not come at a convenient time. Conny is expecting her new boyfriend Geert. So Jette goes to her brother Karl and his wife but this is not the ideal lodging either. Furniture, ornament wallpaper and a calorie chart above the kitchen table – the modern apartment reflects the deadlock of their marriage. Jette suddenly looks at her surroundings with different eyes. She spends much time thinking about her relationship to Johannes. But she seems open to a flirt with her old love Peter.
A colourful Berlin film with pop music, few clothes and atmospheric Berlin images: the Alexanderplatz, the Brandenburg Gate, crumbling buildings and backyards and modern apartment buildings. Director Rolf Römer does not miss several side blows on philistinism and overindulgence of alcohol. Nina Hagen has a rocking cameo as singer of the band Gruppe Stern-Combo Meissen.
