Synopsis:
Julija (Gracija Filipović) and her parents, Ante (Leon Lučev) and Nela (Danica Čurčić), live on a remote island along Croatia’s Adriatic coast. The film spans a weekend in the family’s life, during which Ante invites an old friend, Javier (Cliff Curtis), to their home and attempts to convince Javier to purchase their land and develop a luxe resort on it. The weekend quickly goes south when old resentments and familial tensions flare up.

Julija, characterized as a quiet but independent teenager, watches her parents undertake preparations for Javier’s visit with an air of disinterest, only participating when asked. She is an avid swimmer and spearfisher, who is most often portrayed wearing only a one-piece swimsuit, and throughout the weekend often retreats to the ocean.

After watching Javier and Nela flirt during a seaside excursion, Julija learns that her mother and Javier had a romantic relationship, and that Javier at one time intended to marry Nela. She presses Nela to pursue a renewed connection with Javier so that the two of them can leave Ante, who domineers over the family—but Nela refuses, saying that “as soon as he boards the plane,” Javier will forget about them.

The tension between the four comes to a head at a party for Javier the night before he’s meant to leave. Ante instructs Julija not to attend or to cause problems, and locks her in a closed-off section of the family home. Julija escapes by using a hatch in the floor to cave dive with a flashlight, and swimming to the site of the party. There, she and Ante clash.

After the party, Javier leaves the island the next morning without closing the real estate deal. Ante and Julija prepare to go spearfishing, something they did together often before the events of the weekend. As Julija swims behind her father, she aims the speargun at him. She fires but misses. Julija and her father surface and look at each other. Julija swims away.

A man has to deal with a handful of crises — some of his own making — in this drama from Croatian writer and director Zrinko Ogresta. Nikolai (Leon Lucev) is an architect whose life is taking a turn for the worse on several levels at once. One of Nikolai’s business partners is attempting to frame him for some serious white-collar crime, his young daughter is demanding more time from him than he’s able to give, his wife Maya (Jandranka Dokic) makes it painfully obvious that she had no respect for him anymore, and his mistress Anna (Daria Lorenci) is growing tired of being the other woman. Anna is also one of Nikolai’s co-workers, which causes problems both at the office and at home, and when both Maya and Anna give him his walking papers, his life goes into a tailspin. Iza Stakla (aka Behind The Glass was an official selection at the 2008 Karlovy Vary Film Festival.

Synopsis:
Luna and Amar are a couple. Their relationship is under great strain. First of all, Amar loses his job for being drunk at work. Luna is very worried and has little hope of realising her fragile dream of having a child with Amar. But her fears for their future increase when Amar takes on a well-paid job in a Muslim community hours away from where they live. Only after quite some time has elapsed during which they have had no contact with each other, is Luna allowed to visit Amar in this community of conservative Wahhabis in its idyllic lakeside location. She notices that the men and veiled women live in strict segregation and are closely watched. Luna asks Amar to return home with her but Amar insists that life in this isolated community of faithful followers has brought him peace and also keeps him from drinking. When he returns home a few weeks later, Luna realises that Amars attitude to religion has fundamentally changed. Amar claims that his only interest is to become a better person, but Luna finds it extremely difficult to follow his line of thinking. She begins to question everything that she has believed in, even her desire to have a child. As the wounds of a tragic war-filled past continue to haunt her, Luna tears herself apart searching if love is truly enough to keep her and Amar together on the path to a lifetime of happiness.

When a prostitute dies following a botched abortion, the police become suspicious but Babic’s dodgy contacts save him once again by destroying evidence. He forges test results to discredit his hated rival Bantic; and replaces him as chief of staff at the clinic. Now that he finally has what he wants, our protagonist wants to cut his ties with the criminal underworld. But his ‘friends’ ask him for one more favour: an abortion for a woman who is heavily pregnant…
