Kitty is a musician ‘s daughter ,daddy plays in the fanfare which welcomes the ministers of the foreign affairs who come for an international conference in Geneva .

You do not change a winning team;the Romy Schneider/Karl Boehm partnership proved highly successful in the legendary “Sissi” which became one of the biggest blockbusters in fifties Europa and spawned two sequels (Romy turned down a hefty sum to make a fourth episode) So here they are again,but their numerous fans have got to be patient :it takes 48 minutes before they meet.

“Kitty Und Die Große Welt” is pleasant harmless stuff ,in the tradition of Schneider’s very early roles;she was 16 (and not 18 ,as we are told in this movie)and portrays not an empress but a musician ‘s daughter ,a musician who plays in the fanfare which welcomes the ministers of the foreign affairs who come for an international conference in Geneva .

Kitty is a manicurist who ,by chance ,meets the English minister (“you could be my father”)and becomes a prey to the tabloids ;to protect her ,the politician sends his nephew (Boehm) who,of course ,is going to fall for her.They go on a stroll by the banks of Genova Lake and enjoy cheese fondue (there’s a similar scene in an inn in the second installment of the Sissi Saga).

Meanwhile ,the uncle,who has never a penny in his pocket ,discovers the bistros ,he takes the bus as humble people do ;the best scene takes place on the lake when the boy claims his due and the distinguished English has to row the boat ashore.

This is a simple comedy,but one that might possess considerable appeal for fans of Sissi .For those who like Schneider’s later career,they’d better move on.As for me, I like Romy in any movie. by dbdumonteil

A single woman in her early thirties, Martha (Margit Carstensen) is on vacation with her father in Rome when he has a heart attack and falls down dead. She reacts rather indifferently and returns home to her highly-strung mother and begins to new era of her life taking care of a completely ungrateful and insulting mother (declining an offer of marriage from her boss). After a barrage of verbal abuse and offensive remarks from her mother who see’s her as an ‘ugly old spinster’ she accepts a proposal of marriage from an equally insulting and disrespectful man, Helmuth. They honeymoon in Italy. While there Helmuth resigns Martha from the job that she loves, sends her mother to a mental institution, and lets his wife get horribly burnt in the sun while sleeping, then painfully rapes her. Martha gets back to Germany to find that Helmuth has rented them a new house, and she will not be able to return to her old home even to collect any of her things, which he says must be left behind her. At first the naive and immature Martha believes that her husbands childish temper and selfishness, his domineering possessiveness, his lack of respect, and his violent sexual preferences are just a normal part of marriage. Later, against her husbands order she leaves the house and befriends an old work-mate, Herr Kaiser, who tell her Helmuth is a sadist. While Kaiser and Martha are driving together Martha becomes convinced that her husband is following her and is going to kill her.

Plot Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka
With dialogue ranging from flat to offensive and acting in the same range, this low-brow erotic crime drama by director Terence Young stars Jayne Mansfield as Midnight Franklin, a star stripper in a Soho club that is in serious rivalry with another strip joint. A reporter gets involved in the strip scene while writing a story on the clubs, and in the end he has quite a lot to write about. The competition between the two clubs heats up, and after one of the owners is the unknowing instrument in the death of a young (illegally young) stripper, both rival clubs head for a crash.
