As a long-haul truck driver, you spend most of your life behind the wheel of a truck. After spending 30 years working on long-distance trucks, Seiji Tajima was exhausted and returned home for the first time in a while. However, the housing complex in Urayasu did not give Seiji any peace of mind. His wife, Yoshiko, who is tired of life, is bitter, and his eldest daughter, Eri, who graduated from high school last year and aspires to be an entertainment talent, is emotionally distant. Seiji has been teaming up with his partner Minoru Shinozuka for a long time. Minoru is addicted to gambling and lives alone, in love with his wife Hideko. There is a 24-hour drive-in called Sakura on National Route 181, 20 kilometers before Yonago. Master Naoyoshi Sakura used to drive a truck in partnership with Seiji, but he changed jobs after losing one of his legs in an accident 20 years ago. Seiji stops by Sakura for the first time in a while and meets Kazue Komiya, a young waitress. The next day, Seiji picks Kazue up in his truck as he quits his job at the store and returns to Hagi, where his girlfriend’s mother lives. Then, Seiji brings her back to Sakura, who is not accepted by her mother who has remarried a man younger than her and has nowhere else to go. On the way, the two hugged each other in the driver’s cab. From then on, Seiji chose a shipment bound for Sakai Port, determined to meet Kazue. One day, Minoru returns to Tokyo and asks Hideko to get back together, but she refuses. Seiji was kept away from Sakura for days as the cargo bound for Yonago was interrupted. The long-distance phone call turned into a fight, and Kazue cried at the pain of not being able to see her loved one. Naoyoshi proposed to her. Kazue, who has grown uncomfortable with Sakura, moves to Tokyo and works as a live-in at a love hotel in Kabukicho. Seiji tries to ask Yoshiko for a divorce, but is unable to do so. Yoshiko was also frightened because her husband smelled her feminine scent. Seiji had been asking Minoru for some time about starting his own business together in order to earn more money, but Minoru finally agreed. However, Minoru dies in a traffic accident right in front of Seiji. In the end, Seiji could not abandon his wife and broke up with Kazue. Kazue, who was pregnant with Seiji’s child, visited Sakura. Seiji accidentally finds a magazine with Eri’s nude photos and scolds Eri. Excited, Eri reads out the letter that Naoyoshi had addressed to Seiji in front of Yoshiko. The letter stated that Kazue was pregnant. Seiji drives his truck to Sakura and picks up Kazue and heads to his new job. Kazue was panting in the rain and was bleeding profusely.
