When a plane crashes on a mountaintop Chris wants to plunder the wreckage. His older brother Zachary has given up mountain guide work but goes along rather than letting his brother risk it alone. The only survivor is a Hindu girl who Chris wants to kill. Zachary fights him off. While Chris steals from the dead passengers, Zachary prepares a sled to take the girl down the mountain.

Plot Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Blacklisted in Hollywood, director Edward Dmytryk managed to find work in England. Dmytryk’s Obsession is based on Alec Coppel’s suspense play A Man About a Dog. Ignoring such niceties as subtlety and restraint, Robert Newton stars as Dr. Clive Riordan, the insanely jealous husband of Storm Riordan (Sally Gray). Not content with merely murdering Storm’s American lover Bill Kronin (Phil Brown), Riordan chains up the poor fellow in a deserted building. His reasoning: should the police accuse Riordan of Kronin’s murder, the doctor can always produce the live victim, who is blindfolded and has no idea who his captor is. Once the investigation into the man’s disappearance has subsided, Riordan intends to kill his victim and dispose of the body in an acid bath (something like this actually did take place in London in the postwar years). But the doctor is unaware that his wife’s pet dog has also been locked up with the helpless Kronin. Obsession was released in the U.S. as The Hidden Room.

PLOT SUMMARY :
Italian-American laborer Geremio works as a bricklayer on dangerous construction jobs, with his friends Luigi, Julio, Giovanni and DeLucey. When his best girl Kathleen refuses to marry him because he has no ambition beyond his work, Geremio asks Luigi to send to Italy for the young Annuziata to be his bride. Annunziata’s one condition before coming is that Geremio must have a house of his own, but Geremio can’t wait and lies to her in a letter. Their meeting and wedding is a joyous success. She forgives him and they start to save for a house from his meagre salary while living in a tenement and raising children; but economic events cripple their plans, and worse, tempt him to betray his fellow workers.

Synopsis
Fresh out of journalism school, fledgling reporter Betty Bryant badgers city editor Joyce into giving her a job on the paper. Informed that human interest stories pop up several times a day at the emergency squad station, Betty heads in that direction, where she meets rookie Pete Barton, “Chesty” Miller and Pete’s brother Dan, with whom she falls in love. Meanwhile, Slade Wiley, an unscrupulous contractor, has won the bid on a contract to build the underwater Newford Tunnel. Discovering that his low bid is causing him to lose large amounts of money, Wiley conspires with underworld leader Nick Buller to detonate a series of explosions that will panic the stockholders into selling their shares at ridiculously low prices, thus enabling Wiley to gain control of the stock. Reasoning that Betty’s publicity would assist their plans, Wiley and Buller keep in close contact with her and allow her access to the construction site. Their plan succeeds, but Pete is killed during a rescue effort, and after six explosions, Betty’s paper launches an investigation. To create an alibi, Wiley and Buller take her on a trip into the tunnel, planning an explosion to occur nearby. An unintended accident occurs, however, causing the tunnel to decompress and threatening their lives. When Betty realizes that Wiley and Buller have been the cause of the previous explosions, they knock her out and are rescued by Dan and Chesty. Realizing that Betty was with them, Dan returns to the tunnel and rescues her, narrowly escaping the explosion. Justice is served as Wiley and Buller are arraigned and sentenced, Chesty is reunited with his wife and child, and Betty and Dan are finally free to pursue their romance.
