This is one of Ivan Cardoso’s first films – shot totally in Super 8mm! It’s a parody of the old-age vampire story, but this time Nosferato (Torquato Neto) decides to feed on the bikiniclad beauties lying on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro (land of the string bikini, mind you!) Lots of laughs, skin and an ingenius use of locations!

The newest Ivan Cardoso’s incursion into pop and experimental film, presenting an incredible collection of 20 short films edited by Gurcius Gewdner, including restored films and new 2012 and 2013 productions, ranging from musicals to erotic films, animations and even newsreels. It also pays homage to the old Cine AC movie theaters and movie screenings, which were popular in Europe in the 1960s and 1970s.

“Underground enfant terrible Ivan Cardoso looks back at a life of terror and laughter in this medley of shorts featuring hot women and cool guys, all usually in various stages of undress, performing strange acts or pranks that are not necessarily erotic but always enjoyable and enriching.

Few and far between are artists able to thoroughly eradicate all borders drawn by commerce and bourgeois taste between the different spheres of cinema. The incomparable Ivan Cardoso is one such: a perfect mix of outsider artist and avant-gardist, smut-peddler and cine-philosopher. For roughly the last 50 years, he made one anti-film after another, most short and on Super-8, each a feast lurid and delirious; Orgy of the Devil and Other Forbidden Tapes of Ivan Cardoso is a collection of these.
On the surface, Cardoso’s films are absurdly romantic parody-pastiches of popular genre fare, mainly horror and porn, several featuring the one and only almost-president of Brazil, José Mojica Marins. Looked at more closely, they are tropical prose poems on the merry malaise of his fatherland, Surrealist skits made to piss off the few who hover in helicopters over the many who sense the smells and textures of their wretched existence.”
