On the island of Chios in the 1960s and a few days before schools close for the summer vacations, the friendship between Giannis and Vangelis is overshadowed by a minor misunderstanding. Before long, however, the misunderstanding is put behind them, and the two boys intensely experience various moments of the island’s social life, as well as an unforgettable summer in the company of all their friends. Tenderness and childish “hellishness” alternate with romantic feelings and nostalgia. The film, largely autobiographical, unfolds through a lyrical lament for lost innocence, and its recovery becomes a matter of memory and artistic creation.

Plot
Chios Island, 1960. Due to the sudden death of the field guard at the village of Tholopotami, the Community Council urgently asks for a replacement from the area’s Agronomist. All the remaining, available field guards refuse to work at that village because of its bad reputation and because of the fact that their co-worker passed away while on duty. But when the Community Council raise up the issue again, offering this time a higher salary to the one who will accept the position, 4 candidates turn up…
