When there’s a crisis in power, the man who holds this power is also personally disturbed. His defeat is thorough and complete. A dictator, in a moment of serious national crisis, confronted in the streets and countryside by revolt and guerilla, makes a long speech on TV, looking for an illusionary peace. But reality is stronger than his fiction, and control gets out of hand. For him, there’s only one way out: a pathetic confession and going off the air.

The actor of a film being made lives without distinction his own personal reality and his character’s fiction. As the involuntary object of chance and circumstance, he looks for a meaning and way out, while being pursued by outlaws, a magician, a romantic fantasy, a drunk and his own self-image. The humour, the reason of the persecution, situations, personages, set decoration, dialogs and soundtrack (which uses themes from other films) lead us to symbols, metaphors and the refusal of a possible logical narrative, in a way to allow the viewer to experiment a sensation analogous to the one of the main character, inducing in him the need of thinking a meaning while lost and led by the sustained expectation, and by the intentionally recurrent anti-climax.

Plot Synopsis
Filmmaker Andrea Tonacci blends documentary elements with expressive visual storytelling in this study of the native peoples of Brazil in the 21st century. Carapiru is a member of one of Brazil’s remaining Indian tribes, living in harmony with nature and making wise use of the local flora and fauna. But Carapiru is suddenly forced to fend for himself under unfamiliar circumstances when an unexpected attack leaves the rest of his family dead and their village destroyed.Carapiru flees into the nearby rain forest, and builds a new life for himself with the help some sympathetic settlers. However, after rebuilding his life Carapiru is uprooted once again when well-meaning government agents relocate him to the village he was forced to abandon on the promise that it has been restored to its pristine state. by Mark Deming
