xrt, can you let us know where to get the Japanese subs. They will, I assume, have the time stamps, and that will help even if everything has to be translated line by line.

…drunkenimp, the above ones came with the hdtv transmission of the film, they’re not custom/fan-made (i assume they’re likely shared in various private trackers)… Generally speaking, when an old/obscure jap film gets translated in english, the custom-made subs do find their way out there one way or another eventually sometime later on… you (and me, and everyone else) are always hard-pressed to find such simply because…they don’t exist in the first place, not because they’re kept away in some vault or something. There’s only a handful of people that actually work on translating them (you can actually see the very same names/nicknames in the translation credits since…decades now, speaks volumes…)

It’s probably not a source you can share, but if I’m wrong; where did you get the japanese subs for this? I’m always hard-pressed to find japanese subs for old movies.
